Discounts are a SCAM
Oct 07, 2025Right then.
Let’s talk about discounts.
Specifically, your idea that offering 10% off will magically turn your empty diary into a thriving clinic of grateful, healed clients who bring you flowers and write sonnets about your trigger point technique.
Let me stop you right there.
Discounts are the absolute worst. Here’s why:
❌ 1. You attract bargain hunters.
You know the type. They love a deal, hate commitment, and vanish the moment you suggest a follow-up.
They don’t respect your skills. They don’t recommend you to anyone.
They will, however, tell you your diffuser smells funny and ask if they can park on your drive while they’re nip to the shops for the day.
❌ 2. Marketing a discount is just as hard as marketing full price.
You still have to post. Email. Shout into the void. Possibly make a reel with a trending sound you don’t understand.
And THEN, after all that work, you get less money than you would’ve if you’d just… charged what you’re worth.
That’s not marketing. That’s sabotage.
❌ 3. It looks desperate.
I get it. You’re new. Imposter syndrome has you in a headlock. The tumbleweed’s rolling through your treatment room like it’s starring in a Western.
But nothing says “I’m not sure I’m good at this” like slapping a 20% discount on your very real, very expensive qualification.
If you passed your exams, you’re good enough. Full stop.
So put on your big girl/boy/enby pants, look in the mirror, and say: “I am not a yellow sticker. I am a professional. And I charge accordingly.”
Honestly, the only discount I support is the one where you discount this idea entirely and move on with your life.
