Stop talking. Janet’s got piles.

Sep 23, 2025

Are you accidentally being that person?

You know the one.

The one at the party who corners you next to the hummus and starts telling you (unprompted) about their dog’s gluten intolerance, their moon journal, and how Mercury was retrograde during their divorce and that’s why they shouted at the postman.

You nod. You smile. You mentally calculate the trajectory from your chair to the bathroom window and wonder if you could make it without spraining an ankle.

You could. You’re desperate. You’d crawl if needed.

Now imagine you’re that person.

But online. In your business.

Because if all your content - your newsletter, your social posts, your conversation - is just a monologue about you, your special massage technique and your bespoke essential oil blend that smells like “focus” and abandonment issues…

Well, mate. You’re just talking.

No one’s listening.

They’re googling escape routes.

Here’s what actually gets people’s attention: Talking about them. Their back pain. Their stress. Their bloated, regret-filled post-pasta stomach. Their kid who only sleeps during leap years. Their mother-in-law who communicates exclusively in sighs. Their deep conviction that time travel exists and the government’s hiding it.

Basically: the chaotic brilliance of their life.

Not your third chakra alignment.

Because when someone feels seen, they lean in. They go: “Oh wow, she gets it.”

And then they book in.

And then they tell their mate Sandra. And now Sandra’s in too. It’s a domino effect of dodgy spines and emotional breakthroughs.

So instead of asking, “What do I want to say?” Try: “What are they panic-searching on WebMD at 2am?”

Write that. Post that. Say that.

Your CPD updates can wait. Janet’s got piles.
